Secrets of the Tornado
Secrets of the Tornado
is our newest video. In the tradition of the Tornado Video
Classics series, it contains the most spectacular and unusual
chase or home video footage clips available since TVC III
was completed.
Among the highlights, you'll see:
- Video footage of a tornado taken from an airplane flying
so close that you can just about reach out and touch it.
- Unedited video taken with studio quality equipment on May
27th in Jarrell, Texas, and later, the damage in Jarrell
taken from a helicopter.
- Incredibly intense, window-smashing, howling-wind video
from Cedar Park, Texas, a few minutes after the Jarrell
tornado, in a home that is receiving a direct hit while the
camcorder continues taping. Afterwards, you tour the
neighborhood with the videographer.
- The entire raw footage of the Dillocam
, on the supplemental tape that you receive free with your
Secrets of the Tornado purchase. This remarkable video is
available nowhere else. In Sumner County, Kansas, a
camcorder in a specially designed, armadillo-shaped casing
weighed down with 70 pounds of lead was placed directly in
the path of an oncoming tornado. For the first time, the
entire passage of the funnel was recorded on videotape. This
was the culmination of a year of planning, building, and design
by
one of the leading storm chasing guides. It was a
remarkable achievement, and is a Secrets of the Tornado
exclusive.
- Near that same tornado, a portable seismograph(a "snail")
was deployed in front of a tornado for the first time...another
Secrets of the Tornado exclusive.
- A Wisconsin storm chaser and his kids, recently back from
their high-mileage chase vacation on the Plains, chase the
powerful F5 Oakfield tornado right in their own "back yard".
- A big, red, dusty Texas tornado passes just a few hundred
feet in front of a storm chasing tour group van.
- Add to this a few of the "closest calls" ever from inside cars,
a pick-up truck chase of an F5 in Tennessee, and footage from
South Dakota to the Ozark Mountains, and you have an
unforgettable video experience. Now with closed captions...
for the hearing impaired, for the times you have to hit the
"mute" button on your TV, and for the times you need an
"interpreter" to determine what people are saying!
But that is not all!
At last there is a source of information that shows you how to
build tornado machines(more properly called tornado
simulators), of almost any size. Using physical models
(simulators), Secrets of the Tornado give you a unique
perspective on tornado formation. You'll learn about the
basic kinds of tornadoes, and how they might be triggered.
It has taken us 3 years of research and development to
achieve these goals:
- Uncover the secrets of building and operating tornado
simulators
- Simplify the building process, making it easy for even
inexperienced people to build spectacular tornado models
- Make the tornado models interactive, so that scientific
experimentation can be performed on them
- Show how the model tornadoes are similar (and different)
from the real thing
- Combine all of the above with the great new tornado
footage to create fascinating video production
We think that we have achieved all of these goals in
Secrets of the Tornado!
Here is what some of our customers have told us about the new video!
