You will find, however, not every country that is shown has a completed page for their tornado records. There are a number of possible reasons for this:
- The country may not have tornadoes, or have them very rarely.
- The country may have tornadoes, but the landscape features prevent people from seeing them.
- The country may have tornadoes, but they are not witnessed due to sparse population where they occur(the same thing happens in parts of the US that are tornado-prone).
- The country may have tornadoes, but there is neither an organized system for reporting them nor a centralized location where records are kept.
- The country may have tornadoes, but we have not completed the page that has their descriptions. Those countries that we have found information about will be clickable.
- The country may have tornadoes, but they are accompanied by such a complex mixture of straight-wind, hail, and rain that the official records do not try to distinguish between tornado deaths and damage and that caused by the other events.
Hold your cursor above the name of each country to determine whether or not there is information about it.
Please remember that this is a work in progress. As we find information on tornadic events and sort out the facts surrounding them, we will post them. If you know of an event or a good source for information on the tornadoes of other countries, we would appreciate knowing about it. Send that information to tornadoes@tornadoproject.com.
