Figuring out Extra Shipping Charges for Overnight Service

Here is a list of products and their weights. These weights do not include any shipping materials, so you must add on another 8 ounces for packaging to get a good approximation. If you are ordering two or more items, add their weight together, and add on 8-12 ounces more for packaging. This may sound like too much weight, and it may be. We will only pass on the actual extra charges when we weigh the package, but I would rather prepare you for a larger extra fee and have it turn out less than that, than the other way around! Keep in mind that in both USPS and FedEx shipping you will be deducting the $3.00 shipping that has already been factored into the price of the item.

To ship Express Mail via the USPS:
  1. Determine the weight of the product(s) using the list below.
  2. Add on 8-12 ounces for packaging.
  3. Go the the USPS page on postage rates and the section on express mail rates.. Determine the price to ship the package based on its weight. For example, the price to ship a 2 pound package anywhere within the US via Express Mail is $15.75.
  4. Then deduct $3, the amount for shipping that we have factored into the product price.

That means that the extra charge for shipping a package to you overnight via Express Mail is $12.75.
We can ship USPS Express Mail on any day except Sunday, but if you order on Saturday, the order must be received before 9 AM for us to get to the Post Office before they close.) USPS delivers Express Mail every day of the week, including Sunday.

To ship with FedEx:
  1. Determine the weight of the product(s) using the list below.
  2. Add on 10-12 ounces for packaging.
  3. Log onto the Fedex Rate Calculation page.
  4. Type in our zip code(05819), your zip code, choose "Will drop off at FedEx location" from the drop-down menu, "Your Packaging" from the drop-down menu, and type in the weight of the package. If you need FedEx to deliver on Saturday or Sunday, you should click on "Extra Options" because they will add on another fee.
  5. Then click on "show rates". FedEx will give you both their Priority(before 10 AM) and their Standard(before end of business day) fees.
  6. Deduct $3 from the service you choose(that is the shipping cost we have factored into the product price) to get the approximate extra charge for FedEx next day shipping.
